Mobility Hub

September 22, 2017 in Aldershot's Vision, Frontpage, Infrastructure, Planned by Heather Mace

About 80 people attended the recent public meeting in Aldershot to discuss future development around the GO Station. (This is long term planning.) The Aldershot “mobility hub” will be the subject of major intensification in the future. The City envisions a significant mixed use neighbourhood with a variety of housing types, retail and employment opportunities. The meeting focused on two theoretical models which received public feedback. Staff are expected to return to Aldershot in a few months with their recommended “preferred” model.

“Breeze” Condo Development

September 22, 2017 in Aldershot's Vision, Frontpage, Meetings, Planned by Heather Mace

A Committee of Council will soon consider the proposal to construct an eight storey building with 72 condominiums at 35 Plains Road E. and Cooke Blvd. The project is known as the “Breeze”. It will be discussed at the Planning & Development Committee meeting on the evening of September 26 at 6:30 pm at City Hall. The proposal was the subject of a public meeting in Aldershot more than a year ago. A staff recommendation will be put forward at that meeting.

Bingo Plaza

The City also has not received an application from National Homes concerning the site at 484 Plains Rd. E. At a public meeting in July, the developer advised residents that he would like to demolish the existing plaza and replace it with 2 eight storey condo buildings (retail on first floor) and townhouses behind. The City will let you know if and when a formal application is received.

Dressing Up Plains Road

Another small step has been taken to improve the Plains Road corridor. This new “wrap-around” was recently completed on the utility box at the corner of St. Matthew’s Avenue and Plains. It hosts a variety of photos of old Aldershot. This wrap-around is just the latest in a series sponsored by the Aldershot Community Honour Roll. Other wrap-arounds can be found at the Falcon, King and Francis Road intersections.

More Good News at Bolus

September 22, 2017 in Aldershot's Vision, Frontpage, Success Stories - Current by Heather Mace

At last weekend’s Alderfest festival at Bolus Gardens, an announcement was made that plans
are in the works to add a small interactive water feature and fountain to the park. These additional features will be constructed in time for summer 2018 and are the result of a grant from the Patrick J. McNally Charitable Foundation. This great news follows the recent KaBOOM! project which upgraded the playground equipment in the same Warwick Surrey neighbourhood park.
